Masaru Emoto's Rice Experiment
After seeing Mr. Emoto's full documentary, I was inspired by trying the "Rice Experiment". Check out a small clip below :)
Check out my post on August 20th for more details on Masuru Emoto and his water experiments.
Water, Consciousness & Intent: Dr. Masaru Emoto
Dr. Masaru Emoto is the author of the best-selling books Messages from Water, The Hidden Messages in Water, and The True Power of Water. He is a long-time advocate for peace in relation to water. He is currently the head of the I.H.M.General Research Institute and President Emeritus of the International Water for Life Foundation, a Not for Profit Organization.
Mr. Emoto has been visually documenting these molecular changes in water by means of his photographic techniques. He freezes droplets of water and then examines them under a dark field microscope that has photographic capabilities.
Some examples from his works include:
Water from clear mountain springs and streams had beautifully formed crystalline structures, while the crystals of polluted or stagnant water were deformed and distorted.
Distilled water exposed to classical music took delicate, symmetrical crystalline shapes.
When the words "thank you" were taped to a bottle of distilled water, the frozen crystals had a similar shape to the crystals formed by water that had been exposed to Bach's "Goldberg Variations"- music composed out of gratitude to the man it was named for.
When water samples were bombarded with heavy metal music or labeled with negative words, or when negative thoughts and emotions were focused intentionally upon them, such as "Adolf Hitler", the water did not form crystals at all and displayed chaotic, fragmented structures.
When water was treated with aromatic floral oils, the water crystals tended to mimic the shape of the original flower.
For our own bodies at birth are more than 60 percent water, and the percentage of water in our bodies remains high throughout life (depending upon weight and body type). The earth's surface is more than 60 percent water as well. And now we have seen before our eyes that water is far from inanimate, but is actually alive and responsive to our every thought and emotion. Perhaps, having seen this, we can begin to really understand the awesome power that we possess, through choosing our thoughts and intentions, to heal ourselves and the earth. If only we believe.

Film is dead? We think not!
In its inaugural year, tickets for 12x12 sold out within a week and in 2010, half within 8 minutes with the rest snapped up in 24 hrs. 2011 blew all records out of the water with a sold out time of 10 minutes, proving that film photography is not only alive but thriving in the Lower Mainland.
Check out all the photos taken on August 6th, 2011 by our 60 marathoners at Raw Talent: The 12x12 Vancouver Photo Marathon Exhibit happening Sun., September 25th, at PhotoHaus Gallery (14 West 7th Ave, Vancouver). This is a FREE public exhibit so bring all your friends and family for a very fun night with hundreds of other art and photo enthusiasts!
Wow! What a day! 12 Hours, 12 Themes, 12 Exposures and all with film. It has been a very long time since I pulled out my old Pentax K and the hardest part of this marathon was that I had to limit my photography to one frame an hour.... All of a sudden I was bored by my digital SLR and I became re-fascinated with film grain ;) Maybe it's something to do with the rush of not knowing if the photo "turned out"... the mystery, testing my patience... until September 25th anyways... see below.
Photo shoot with ZZ Top
Your girl Manj was "live" with ZZ Top!
I had the rare opportunity to photo-document the boys from ZZ Top Sunday night. What a fabulous evening of reminiscing through good memories and legendary beats of soul, country, and blues! The bonus was being able to experience this phenomenon in conjunction with one of my many passions, photography. It doesn't get any better than this!

Sunday night, the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre is going to be rocking the night away as Global Spectrum presents the legendary group ZZ Top live in concert.
This American rock trio hailing from Houston, Texas was formed in late 1969 by Billy Gibbons (lead vocals and lead guitar), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, and keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums).
ZZ Top have been together for four decades and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 along with ranking number 44 on VH1 cable’s ”100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.”
The band holds the distinction of being among the few rock bands still composed of its original recording members for nearly 40 years.
Nearly as well-known as their music is the group’s biker-frontiersmen image – ZZ Top is almost always pictured wearing sunglasses; Gibbons and Hill (the singing front men) wearing similar if not matching black clothing (usually biker leathers), black cowboy hats or ball caps.
Both Gibbons and Hill are noted for their trademark chest-length beards (in spite of his own surname, drummer Beard almost always sports just a trim mustache).
Joining ZZ Top in Abbotsford is multiple Juno and CCMA award winner Charlie Major.
Major has been a force in country music for over two decades. His debut album The Other Side is the only album in Canadian history to have six number one songs and his other five major releases went on to score Major an additional 19 hit singles, including I’m Feeling Kind of Lucky Tonight.
Live Painting on Breakfast TV CityTV
I was asked to demonstrate "live painting" by the promoters of Make It Vancouver. Make It is the largest event of its kind in Western Canada. It is an upbeat experience that gives enlightened shoppers the opportunity to buy directly from Canada’s top urban artisans and designers!
I will have the news clip of this live event online shortly.

A raga is a form that takes shape as a story. It paints an adventure in my mind of lucid dreams full of wonder & possibility.
My creative process is like a frame capture of time's palette. In our individual universes a moment may last 5 seconds or even 30 years. But thru that one senses the harmony of synchronisity sets the ever-changing example to the intent of how it was intiated.
Thus, the feeling of creating becomes monumental and timeless. This is my mood, this is my raga.
